Pre NCT Checks

This inspection covers over 40 checks, including the most common failure items as published annually by the NCT. We at Manor Auto Service would like to ensure that your car passes its NCT for the first time
Pre NCT check
The NCT is a preventative road safety measure that ensures vehicles over four years old are subject to a basic safety check at regular intervals.
NCT frequency and test due dates
Private cars must undergo a roadworthiness test when they are four years old and every two years thereafter until their 10th anniversary. After that they need to be tested annually.
Since the introduction of the NCT in 2000, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) has continued to make significant changes to the complexity of the test, which has led to fairly stable failure rates in a number of engine categories. At the beginning of 2020, exactly 50% of the cars fail the test when they are present in the approved test center.
To increase your chances of passing the test, all you have to do is visit our garage for a Pre NCT.
Our Pre NCT check includes a basic service and headlight alignment plus a series of NCT common fault checks.
The normal fail points are:
- Front suspension
- Wheel Alignment
- Bulbs
- Headlamp focusing
- Tyre condition
- Brakes and braking system
- Wipers
- Hooter
- Wheel studs
- Correct match of tyres per axle
- Overall visual check
At the end of the Pre NCT check, we tell you that you will pass. If not, we will pay you the NCT retest fee of 28 euro.
